In version 2.2 there is a display bug which shows negative values as 0. This is only a display issue and you data remains safe but can be misleading. I have submitted a fix which should be out by Monday.

A major new version of Spending Money is coming out! The new version includes category support through tags, a new settings screen, and tip/tax support.
You can actually start getting ready for the tag support now. For example, if you add #gift to a description for a transaction, you will have a "gift" category with the new version, and can see in the statistics how much you spent on gifts. You can have as many categories for each transaction as you want.

We are putting the finishing touches on v2.0, Multi-Wallet Support. This is one of those features that we have come to rely on so much while testing we can't wait to get it released. For instance, I have a mini-vacation coming up to Florida so I created a separate "Vacation" wallet for it. It doesn't come out of my regular weekly budget but I want to track how much I spend. I also have a "Groceries" wallet for keeping track of groceries, since I keep that as a separate budget.
We are making sure the interface is smooth and fast without getting in the way of people who only want one wallet and, of course, bug-free.

We added the "Check Number" enhancement right after releasing 1.6 but we didn't want to flood users with updates so we held off and started working on v2.0 update (finally, multiple wallets!). But yesterday we found a bug in v1.6 with sending email data so we bundled that with the enhancement and released it as 1.7. It should be out tonight or tomorrow.

So- am I releasing too many updates? Would you like to see them bundled into fewer, larger updates?

You should see the update to Spending Money today. I am excited about this release, having used both for the past week I really miss the new features when I use the old version, which I think is a good sign.

A major change is coming to the app, adding and improving features without changing the simplicity you are used to.
In the next version you will see-
Payment Types- in addition to the recently added Check type, you can no record Credit, Cash, and Other payments separately.

Editing Transactions- from popular demand, you can now edit individual transactions.
Improved Transaction UI- deleting and copying transactions are part of the new Editing UI and much more intuitive.
Emailing Data- more complete information.
Performance Improvements- I hope you've never had performance issues but I added efficiencies to the statistics and transactions list.

Submitting v1.5 with support to track clearing so the app can more fully be used with checks, which has been a much requested feature.

We submitted v1.3 for testing. It is just minor bug fixes to the Transaction screen thanks to some great feedback we have been getting. We was going to wait for the major update but the bugs were pretty annoying.

Speaking of which, the major v1.5 "check register" support is still on track for around the holidays. If you have any ideas for the check register feature let me know, I don't write too many checks so I need to hear from people who do.

Because of our great users, Spending Money is now the top app in the Finance category in the Marketplace. Thanks to everyone who downloaded the app and especially those of you that took the time to rate, review, and send feedback.

Spending Money v1.1.1 will be updated soon to take some of the clunkiness out of adding transactions and more features are being planned for v1.2.
UPDATE: Since the Marketplace will only allow updating the first two version numbers, the minor update I just uploaded will be v1.2 and added features will in v1.5.

With the international release of Windows Phone 7 an updated Spending Money application has been submitted. The changes are minor but here they are:

• Increased transaction limit to 500 from 250.
• Smarter handling of "Clear Old Data", which will progressively go from one month to one week eventually down to one day, depending on how much data you have.
• Better handling of Trial Mode. Free mode allows 8 transactions before clearing and a total of 100 transactions.
• Slightly improved UI for Help.
